About
TionTion is a wood-based sculptural practice built through the dichotomy of exotic woods (sourced for their rarity) paired against reclaimed barn wood (pulled from structures that have already lived a full life). One material carries the promise of what it could become; the other carries the memories of what it already was. Together, they hold a tension between potential and history.
Working primarily in wood, I have found a consistent connection to the circle as a recurring form, a shape simple enough to hold complexity without announcing it. That vocabulary is shifting now, as the work moves toward new forms that keep asking the same question in different ways.
At its core, this practice is about material honesty. Let wood keep its grain, its damage, its age, and its shine, and let those histories sit next to each other without smoothing them into agreement.
